The Youth Creative Initiative is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit. We seek to empower underserved and underrepresented youth pursuing passions in the areas of music, theatre and the entertainment business and to support organizations currently working in these areas.
We believe that participation in music and the creative arts can be a life changing and life saving experience for young people. “The Arts and Achievement in At-Risk Youth,” a 2012 study by the National Endowment for the Arts, found that 48 percent of at-risk students, who had low arts involvement, attended college, but 71 percent of at-risk students, who had intensive arts involvement, attended college. In a nutshell, exposure to the arts and music education during grade school years is imperative to a strong academic outcome and that arts and music education with at a high level can produce even greater outcomes.*
- Resources: Providing needed monetary funding through targeted small grants, from community and private donations.
- Exposure: Increasing the real number of youth exposed to music and arts education programs because of our support.
- Education: Providing extra curricular programming in music, arts and their related technical disciplines.
- Representation: Showing youth examples of adults that are active and successful in their creative disciplines, that have a background, demographic, or story similar to theirs.
We have a responsibility to cultivate the creative foundations of our future. We will continue to establish programs that uplift, empower and create environments for youth to thrive in these important fields. It is with this vision we are looking to partner with various individuals and organizations to help spread this message. We ask that you join us in our efforts!
